Little girls often imagine themselves to be pretty princesses or fairies.  Encouraging your kids’ pretend play will help enhance their creativity and imagination. To make their pretend play more fun, you can create pretty fairy princess wings out of an old stocking and some wire.

What You Need:

  • 8 feet of wire
  • Pliers
  • Elastic band
  • Old beige/pink/white pantyhose
  • Spray adhesive
  • Glitter
  • Colorful Markers

What to Do:

  • Using a pair of pliers, turn the wire into the shape of wings. You don’t have to make the shape complicated. You can just create the wire to form two 8s that are side by side connected by a two parallel horizontal wires in the middle.  Make the upper circles bigger than the bottom circles. Make sure that you secure the wire so that it there is no sharp pointing sticking out.
  • You can also decide to make a nicer shape for the wings and really turn it into butterfly wings but this will take more time and effort.
  • Once the wires are shaped into wings, cover the wire with the pantyhose.
  • Now you have plain wings.  Decorate the wings using the colorful markers. This is why it is best to use beige and light-colored pantyhose.
  • To make the wings more beautiful, spray the adhesive on some parts of the wings and put glitters on the part with the adhesive.
  • Place the elastic band on the middle part of the wings to form shoulder straps so that your daughter can wear her pretty wings.
