Summer is the best time to bond with your children.  Not only is school out but the sun is out too! Here are ten things that your kids can do to have a fun summer:

  • Let your children play with the sprinkler- This is a fun activity that all your young kids will enjoy.  What’s good about this activity is it does not require a lot of preparation and a lot of money.  Just scatter some pool toys in the yard and turn on the sprinklers. Let your children run around and enjoy the soothing water from the sprinklers.
  • Go swimming- You can enroll your children to swimming classes so that they have a regular activity to do all summer.  If your kids already know how to swim, schedule a fun family outing to the local pool so you can all have fun.
  • Take your children to the Park- Even small towns usually have nice parks.  Take advantage of the good weather to take your kids out and have fun at the park.  There are so many things you can do at the park like catch ball, feed birds, have a picnic, read a book, fly a kite, etc.  You can also use this time to teach your kids about nature.  Get them a magnifying lens and let them explore.
  • Take your kids to the public library- It’s the perfect time to take your kids to the public library to teach them about borrowing a book and making use of all the other services of the library.   Get the library’s summer schedule and see if they are hosting story-reading activities or craft activities.
  • Enroll your older kids to summer camp- A Summer camp is the perfect place for your kids to gain new friends and have fun in the summer. There are many camps offering different activities for kids.  If this is the first time your child is attending camp, make sure that it’s for a field of interest your kids already like and enjoy.  If this is not the first time your children are attending camp, you can discuss with them the possibility of exploring other areas of interest.
  • Go camping- This activity requires more preparation than the others but it can be one of the most fun activities you can do with your family.  Make sure you choose a camping site that is safe and secure. You should also choose a camp site that allows different types of activities such as swimming and fishing so that your family members can participate in the activities they are interested in.
  • Take your children to the zoo- all kids enjoy seeing real animals that they usually only see in books.  A trip to the local zoo can be a fun and educational experience for your children.
  • Visit a Museum- A museum can be a very interesting place to visit for kids.  Before you make a trip to a museum, do some research online to see what items in the museum will be of particular interest to your kids. This so you can show the kids these things and then let them wander around later on.
  • Watch a Baseball or Other Sports Game- This can be fun for everyone in your family and not just those who like sports. Choose teams to root for and enjoy the day.
  • 10.)Teach your kids to ride the bike- Get your children a bicycle each and teach them how to ride.  Biking can be a good way to exercise this summer and a fun way to get around town.
